Letter: Bush mistaken on many fronts

The focus on the recent tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico area is understandable, but let's not lose sight of everything else President Bush has botched.
I must believe that after almost five years of his presidential administration that even he would know by now that he just can't handle the job. His negligence may very well cause another major catastrophe.
The oil companies are reporting billions in extra profits for their last quarter, while the middle- and lower-income citizens won't even have the option of bankruptcy. The talk is that we the people of the United States are stupid and that the present administration is taking advantage of that. I refuse to believe that. We may be slow or even gullible, but we're not stupid and we can see that nothing is being done as promised.
Our educational system is in shambles, there is no real federal health care system in place, our kids are being slaughtered in a senseless war, we have no homeland security, and people who need drugs can't afford them and those who are on drugs for all the wrong reasons seem to have very little problem acquiring them.
As one who loves America, it's embarrassing to watch this poor excuse for a president make so many mistakes.
