Letter: Cindy Sheehan, others sap morale of brave Marines
Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005 | 9:21 a.m.
Cindy Sheehan's appearance on the national scene last month denigrating the life and death of her son Casey, a Marine who died in Iraq, has exposed the depth of the darkness that has slowly enveloped the nation's conscience. As the years have passed, the painful memories of 9/11 have faded and an increasing number of Americans have forgotten why our armed forces are stationed in foreign countries fighting for our way of life.
Being a fellow Marine of Casey's, I am especially dismayed and disgusted with Cindy Sheehan's words and actions, and the words and actions of her gang of handlers -- Michael Moore, MoveOn.org, the Crawford Peace House, the Rev. Al Sharpton and others of that ilk.
The shockingly despicable and repugnant misuse of young Casey Sheehan's life, and his death, to promote their liberal, left-wing, pacifist and anti-American agenda cuts the heart out of our courageous sons and daughters fighting for "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" for all.
Our brave young Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen who are fighting World War III, defending the United States of America and liberating millions, epitomize "honor, courage and commitment to God and country."
Some of the parents of our warriors need to learn what that means. Their children know! Thank God for Casey Sheehan's life and thank God that Casey Sheehan has a father who understands. Semper Fi, Casey.
