Meeting to address chronic lung disease
Patients, professionals and the public will gather from 8 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Hampton Inn, 4975 S. Industrial Road, to discuss chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
COPD covers chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema and Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic disorder that can result in life-threatening lung disease in adults and liver disease in adults and children.
The conference starts with registration, continental breakfast and exhibitors. A complimentary lunch is included.
During the day participants will learn about Alpha-1 and the importance of early detection, the uses of pulmonary rehabilitation for the emphysema patient, and developments in therapies to treat COPD. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in question-and-answer sessions led by a world-class faculty and experts in the field.

Prostate screenings to be available
To kick off National Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, four University Medical Center Primary Care Centers are providing men 50 and older discount screenings for prostate cancer.
UMC's Summerlin, Spring Valley, Craig and Boulder Primary Care Centers will provide preventative screenings that include a digital rectal exam and a prostate-specific antigen test.
Prostate cancer screenings will be held at these UMC Primary Care Centers:
Monday: 8 a.m.-noon, Summerlin Primary Care, 2031 N. Buffalo Drive; 2-7 p.m., Spring Valley Primary Care, 4180 S. Rainbow Blvd., Suite 400.
Tuesday: 8 a.m.-noon, Craig Primary Care, 2202 W. Craig Road; 2-7 p.m., Boulder Primary Care, 5412 Boulder Highway.
