The state Division of Environmental Protection teamed up with Project Water Education for Teachers International and the Bureau of Reclamation's Fallon office to develop a new tool to educate Nevada students about water resources.
"Discover the Waters of Nevada" is designed to inform fourth through sixth grade students about water through an exploration of Nevada's ecosystems. The full-color 32-page booklet includes facts, experiments, puzzles and educational activities centered around the theme of Nevada's water resources.
"Discover the Waters of Nevada" addresses state and national education standards in science and other disciplines. Students will explore Nevada's distinct ecosystems, geography skills, discover the connections between historical events and water, and learn about the importance of water conservation and protection to all water users.
The booklet is one of many water education materials in the Kids In Discovery Series written and published by Project WET International, a nonprofit water education organization.
Teachers can order classroom sets of the booklet by visiting the Project WET online store at www.projectwet.org or by calling toll free (866) 337-5486.
