Bar raising funds for Katrina victims
Local residents will have an opportunity to listen to music and sample appetizers and drinks at Simon Kitchen and Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday while raising donations to help those displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
From Hurricane to Home (http://www.fromhurricanetohome.com/), a Web site started by Las Vegas locals Kimberly Michele and Kara Wong, is sponsoring this event with the Lied Animal Shelter, which is owned and operated by the Greenspun family, and KLUC 98.5-FM Morning Zoo.
A live performance by Bankie Banx, an international music and Reggae star, will be featured.
Donations of canned goods, clothing, toys and other donations will be accepted at the event.
