Median price of houses in valley rises to $309,000

The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors released its housing statistics today and reported that the median price of a house in the Las Vegas Valley reached $309,000 in August, up from $306,950 in July.
The average house price in August was $364,999, according to the report.
The number of homes listed for sale on the Multiple Listing Service increased slightly in August, up 1.2 percent to 15,355 single-family houses. The number of condo and town house units listed for sale decreased by half a percent in August to 2,649 units listed.
While there were more single-family houses on the market in August, more homes sold during the month than in July. More than 3,330 houses sold in August compared to 3,240 in July.
Statistics are based on records from the MLS, which is largely made up of resale houses listed with a Realtor.
