Letter: Prayer is better than bickering
Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 | 9:13 a.m.
Our prayers are for God to bless the poor who have been victims of Hurricane Katrina. Sadly, I've noticed quite a bit of Bush-bashing, and not enough prayer, or even talk of prayer.
When tragedy strikes this nation, where is there time for bickering and bad mouthing such as rapper Kanye West has done on national television? West boldly asserted "George W. Bush does not care about black people." West must think he knows the heart of Bush completely. Yet, we know that only God knows the hearts of men and that God will do the judging of hearts and thoughts on that final Day.
The relief is arriving and people are being saved. Bush didn't cause the hurricane. If there is any issue that we as Americans have, then perhaps we should take this issue up with God, while remembering that God often has reasons that are not revealed to us. We don't know why He allows a lot of things to happen. But bickering solves nothing, does it?
Besides sending money, what else can we do? We can seek the Lord and ask for His loving mercy and blessing upon the recovery efforts and upon our land.
