Toyota Motor Corp., the world's second-largest automaker, is recalling almost 1 million U.S. sport-utility vehicles and pickup trucks to fix a steering-related flaw that could potentially cause drivers to lose control.
The recall covers 1989 through 1996 model 4Runner SUVs, as well as compact and T-100 pickups, the Japanese automaker's U.S. unit said in an e-mailed statement Wednesday. The voluntary recall affects as many as 375,000 4Runners, 535,000 small pickups and 68,000 T-100s, spokesman Sam Butto said.
