Letter: Tax on oil firms would help area

President Bush, in a recent radio address, stated that the government will do its part to help the hurricane victims. He also suggested that the public contribute, too. Someone ought to inform him that the public can contribute by way of higher gasoline prices.

If the good president, using the powers of his office, declares, by executive order, a windfall profits tax on the oil companies, those taxes could flow directly to the hurricane area. Now everybody wins.
