Roosevelt to aid in fundraiser
Clay Jenkinson will portray former President Theodore Roosevelt at a fundraiser at 7 p.m. Wednesday to benefit Nevada Humanities.
Jenkinson, a leading presenter of first person historical narratives and best known for his portrayal of Thomas Jefferson, has performed at the White House, on Capital Hill, and in living history programs such as the annual Boulder City Chautauqua.
Jenkinson, author and television and radio host, received the Charles Frankel Prize from the National Endowment for the Humanities in recognition of his contribution to the humanities.
In recognition of Theodore Roosevelt's important role in the development of the modern American West, his visit is hosted by five Nevada governors past and present. Hosts include Gov. Kenny Guinn and former Govs. Bob, Richard Bryan, Bob List and Paul Laxalt.
In addition to a selection of silent auction items, guests will have an opportunity to bid on a one-of-a-kind teddy bear, signed by the governors.
The event will be held at the home of Sam and Mary Ellen McMullen. RSVP to Nevada Humanities at 895-1878.
The American Parkinson Disease Association's
Central Support Group will hold a discussion at noon Wednesday at the First Christian Church, 101 Rancho Drive. For more details, call 564-5416.
