Letter: U.N. involvement goes much further

He shows an increase in foreign aid from $16.5 billion to $37.8 billion from 2001 to 2005. This is just the tip of the iceberg in what we spend on "foreign aid."
What about the U.N. budget and our spending on its many programs? Add the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Overseas Private Investment Corp., the Development Banks, Export-Import Bank, forgiveness of debt and other donations when there are catastrophes in the world, etc.
Our poor educational system is to blame for the American people's poor education on this world government. How was the Korean War (conflict) palmed off as a U.N. victory? The war was fought to a draw, at the 38th parallel, and Americans have been dying every year for 52 years to protect it.
Then in the '90s we gave them nuclear power for "peace." What a mistake that was. We now are being blackmailed so that North Korea's failed communist government can save its administration.
This is not a Republican or Democrat issue. Every president from FDR, who founded and named the U.N., to President Bush has propped up this corrupt Third World affirmative action program.
The U.N. should be moved to the European Union, which shares its secular socialistic views. We could use its present headquarters for affordable housing.
