Missing a rebate check?

Henderson Police said that when they arrested a man last week he had 16 state rebate checks in his possession.

Police arrested Jeffrey Young on Oct. 12. He faces an unrelated drug possession charge while more investigation is under way, Todd Rasmussen, spokesman for Henderson Police, said.

"We are working with the state and the postal inspector to determine if any additional charges will be filed," Rasmussen said.

Young was arrested as he was waiting in a vehicle for a woman who was acting oddly, Rasmussen said.

When police searched Young, they found the rebate checks in his possession, Rasmussen said.

Authorities are now attempting to contact the owners of the checks, Rasmussen said.

Previous reports about stolen state rebate checks were discounted by the U.S. Postal Service. The Postal Service stated last week that reports about checks being stolen from mailboxes in Sun City Anthem were incorrect.
