Drought interrupted: Storm dampens motorists’ enthusiasm

Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005 | 8:47 a.m.

Clouds roll in behind the Strip during Tuesday's storm, while cars splash their way through rain runoff near the intersection of Dean Martin Drive and Meranto Avenue in southwest Las Vegas. This week's storm has dropped close to 2 inches of rain on parts of the valley in a 24-hour period, with street flooding resembling scenes of an August downpour. Flooded streets and swift-water rescues were dramatized on the television news, but provided real-life headaches for valley drivers.
