Flashpoint for Oct. 16, 2005

Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005 | 10:37 a.m.

The Nevada battle is about to be joined. In a few weeks, Colorado voters will decide whether to gut their Taxpayer Bill of Rights. The day after that balloting takes place on Nov. 1, proponents of a Nevada version plan to launch their initiative. The effort, led by Sen. Bob Beers and ex-Sen. Ann O'Connell, has been shrouded in mystery. Will it mirror the Colorado restrictions, which mandate that government not grow more than inflation and population growth? How will the Rainy Day Fund play into it? We should find out soon. And the post-Colorado spin will either be how Coloradans validated the plan's efficacy, or how Nevadans are not like Coloradans. Get ready. It's coming either way.
