Las Vegas wants you! Or at least some of you. This month City Manager Doug Selby sent out a letter to 180 members of city boards and commissions and the city's Citizen Academy. Selby wants recipients to be part of what he calls a "Collaborative Team" that will assess how the city is handling a dozen specialized programs. The letter is full of bureaucratese and New Age rhetoric ranging from "strategic priorities" to "value assessment." It's "new and unique," too, Selby says, "integrating citizens' values into city-funded programs." Best of all: "It is not (his emphasis) necessary for participants to have complete knowledge of the subject matter." You know, like his seven bosses.
