Letter: Frist should move into Martha’s cell

Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005 | 8:16 a.m.

Now Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has made a similar sale. He had a large block of shares of HCA (Hospital Corp. of America), which his father had founded. The shares were in a blind trust where he was not supposed to have any knowledge of transactions by his broker.

Sometime in June, just before a damaging report on the financial condition of HCA was presented, he ordered that his shares, and the shares held by his wife, be sold. If this isn't evidence of insider trading, I don't know what is.

Like Martha, he claims he didn't know about the earnings report. I think that if Martha's cell is still available, Frist is a likely candidate to fill it. After all, "What's good for the goose, is good for the gander."
