Letter: Police hires should increase, not just pay

I'm so proud of Sun columnist Jeff German for not using the word "greedy" when referring to the wage negotiations between Metro Police and Clark County. Any other time, the owners are "greedy."

As a county resident, I voted for the tax increase to hire new cops, not to feather the nest of the existing force. Call me greedy! I think they should get a raise, but not 25 percent over four years. Thanks to County Manager Thom Reilly for stepping in and saying, "No way." Let's get sensible with these greedy cops.

If the recent tax-hike money is used for anything other than hiring new cops, I say we repeal the tax, and not fall for the old bait-and-switch ever again.
