Letter: Don’t compare England with enemy

Since the enemy activities were so horrible, then we are justified in our own atrocious behavior as well, of a milder sort. Is that it? I do not think that reflects American values for human life and decency. Rather lowers the bar, to put it mildly.
And does Wilson really think that the documented instances of U.S. mistreatment of prisoners in Abu Ghraib and elsewhere are even somewhat acceptable? Especially considering that such a high percentage of prisoners in Abu Ghraib thus far have turned out not even to be actual members of the enemy.
Wilson's philosophy is not the way we will win the battle against terrorism.
