Dangerous intersections, roadways to be studied
Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005 | 7:28 a.m.
Some of the most accident-plagued intersections in Las Vegas, as targeted by the Nevada Transportation Department for safety improvements, will be discussed at a meeting tonight.
The proposed improvements, which total $1.7 million, will affect 15 intersections, as well as a stretch of Maryland Parkway just north of Flamingo Road.
Changes range from installing passenger barriers on Flamingo near the Barbary Coast to building a median island on Maryland Parkway to prevent collisions resulting from unsafe left turns.
Smaller projects proposed following a $262,000 study include traffic-light timing changes.
The meeting will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of the County Government Center.
The full list of intersections and more information about the proposal can be found at www.nevadadot.com or by calling 671-8856.
