Letter: Reid right to stand ground on Roberts
Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 | 8:21 a.m.
Sen. Harry Reid needs to be commended for standing by his convictions and voting against John Roberts for chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Chief justice is a very important lifetime position, one that will affect all Americans for the next 30 years or so.
While Sen. Reid has always been an honest and open government servant, apparently Judge Roberts and the Bush administration think no comment, no release and no openness will suffice.
This American believes Sen. Reid made the right decision and I thank him, as we all should, for standing up for what is right.
