Letter: Californians not to blame for road woes
Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 | 8:18 a.m.
Joseph Coleman's Oct. 2 letter blaming California's influence for the bad traffic manners of Nevada drivers is just plain wrong.
It is obvious Mr. Coleman has not spent any time driving in California or he would appreciate how much more courteous the drivers there really are (relative to Nevada drivers). I live in Los Angeles and Henderson, and Nevada has driver discourtesy that matches New York and Boston for rudeness.
Perhaps the bad driving habits of Nevada drivers comes more from the East Coast (where Mr. Coleman is from), rather than, as he claims, California. If California drivers are so bad, why are their insurance rates so much lower than the rates of Nevadans? Answer that, Mr. Coleman.
Los Angeles, with its millions of cars, has fewer accidents on the morning news than Las Vegas.
I do agree with Mr. Coleman that the people in Nevada should do something to get the laws enforced and reduce accidents and insurance rates.
