Bettors’ conviction: DeLay is the favorite in the online world

Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005 | 2:39 a.m.

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, was well known for his ability to move campaign money around.

But the now-indicted congressman, facing conspiracy charges relating to the distribution of political donations, wouldn't like where the smart money is heading now.

Cyberbettors are putting their money on a conviction.

Online casino Bodog.com brags that there has been an "unprecedented amount of betting action."

Conviction is a solid favorite, with the line at -135, meaning a bettor would have to place a $135 bet to win $100. Acquittal is at -105.

So you don't end up in DeLay's shoes, remember: Online betting is illegal in the United States.
