Letter: Double standard on the United Nations

Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005 | 9:15 a.m.

When American companies like Enron that were doing the same thing were caught, the people responsible were removed and prosecuted. Why the reluctance on the part of the U.N. to do the same thing to the corrupt leadership, which is responsible on a worldwide scale?

And why did the liberal politicians oppose the nomination of John Bolton to be the new United States ambassador to the U.N.? They wouldn't vote on him, so President Bush appointed him during a congressional recess. Bolton wants to put an end to this charade.

American involvement with the United Nations now reflects typical liberal philosophy. They have no solution to the problem other than throwing money at it.
