Letter: Evolution nothing more than a theory
Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 | 9:17 a.m.
Regarding the Nov. 25 letter, "No way that intelligent design is science":
It is true that intelligent design is not a science, but that doesn't mean because it's not a science it shouldn't be taught when learning other hypotheses about how human beings may have "evolved." From my studies on the theory of evolution, it was just that, a "theory." I don't recall being given any definite empirical proof.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that we all "evolve," but that's because we are all born with our entire genetic code (DNA) at the time of birth. It's based upon the same genesis that birds, trees, fruits, vegetables and, oh, humans derive from.
We are born from a seed, if I'm not mistaken, and in that seed is where all of what we evolve into becomes evident over time and space. We are born in an instant with all we are meant to be, genetically. Of course, I hear that if you'd like to vary your genetics that can be arranged, too.
I only wish that when I attended public school this would have been included in my teaching, but sadly it wasn't. I thought education was for the very purpose of learning different ideas. When did the genesis story of the Bible, which can be proven empirically by looking at creation daily, become a taboo subject?
