Porn star Kid Vegas heading back for prosecution
Monday, Nov. 28, 2005 | 8:16 a.m.
The adult-film star known as Kid Vegas has been handed over to authorities in New York to await transport back to Nevada.
Scott Austin, the 32-year-old star of "Kid Vegas: Trenchcoat Pornographer" and other X-rated features, fled to Canada to avoid sexual assault charges in Nye County.
His application for refugee status in Canada was denied, and he was handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Niagara Falls on Tuesday, said Patrizia Giolti, a spokeswoman for the Canada Border Services Agency.
After spending the night in a Niagara Falls Police holding cell, Austin was transferred to a jail in Lockport, N.Y., where he waived extradition at a hearing Wednesday, according to Sgt. Daniel Engert of the Niagara County Sheriff's Department.
Austin will be held without bail for up to 30 days awaiting pickup by Nye County, Engert said.
Austin, known in the porn industry for several worst movie of the year awards, allegedly subjected two girls -- one of them a minor -- to unwanted advances at a party in Beatty a year ago.
Austin claims he is innocent and the victim of framing by Nye County authorities, who he says disapprove of his lifestyle.
