Letter: Church, state must be separated
Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 | 8:48 a.m.
Wow! Nadia Romeo's Nov. 23 letter, "Freedom and religion don't mix," really does a great job of pointing out the steroid-fed white elephant sitting in the middle of our society. It's about time someone spoke up about the reality of popular religions in America.
As she suggests, Founding Father Tom Paine's "Age of Reason" is perhaps the clearest, most common sense refutation of the self-serving, cultish, myth-based entities masquerading as "God's" spokespeople. Enough with the snake oil salesmen.
Let's steer away from the myth that America was organized around any religion and strongly enforce the separation of church and state. Bush's insertion of religion into our government violates our Constitution and makes us a dumber and much less-respected nation.
