Letter: U.S. troops should leave Iraq now

Do you suppose that we could stop using the phrase "cut and run" to refer to withdrawing from Iraq? This has never been about fighting a war against "terror" or anything else. It is about "political capital," becoming the war president and taking care of business. It is about deception, degradation and denial. It is about invading a sovereign nation under false pretenses and for private gain. It is a confirmation that democracy as we have known it is on its deathbed.

Leaving Iraq now is the only honorable and sensible thing to do. Trying to salvage a bit of respect and confidence by showing the courage of our convictions is the only way to hold up our heads once again. Impeachment would be the proper place to start the process.
