Walker went untouched up the middle then down the right side with 13:51 left for the game-winner in the regular season finale for both teams.
The Rams (6-5, 5-3 Mountain West) also held off a last-minute UNLV drive that ended at the Rebels' 49 in the final seconds.
Colorado State trailed 27-17 in the third quarter when Kyle Bell ran for a 1 yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 27-24 with 52 seconds left in the quarter. Bell carried 24 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Rams quarterback Justin Holland went 16-for-24 for 164 yards and David Anderson caught six passes for 90 yards.
Erick Jackson rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries for UNLV (2-9, 1-7), and also had 28 yards receiving.
After trailing 20-17 at halftime, the Rebels used two Colorado State turnovers to take a 10-point lead. UNLV quarterback Shane Steichen ran in a 9-yard touchdown on the right side to take a 20-17 lead, and Jackson scored from 1 yard with 3:45 left in the third to make it 27-17.
Steichen completed 16 of 27 for 167 yards with a touchdown and an interception and also rushed for 80 yards.
Colorado State could earn a berth in one of three bowls that have agreements with the Mountain West Conference: The Las Vegas Bowl, the Emerald Bowl and the first-year Poinsettia Bowl. Five Mountain West teams are already bowl eligible.
