Letter: Bush has no clue about paying bills
Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 | 7:25 a.m.
George W. Bush is the most fiscally irresponsible president this country has ever had the misfortune to put into office. He inherited a balanced budget from Bill Clinton and has set it to ruin with the urging of his Republican-controlled Congress.
It's obvious Bush has never had to balance the family checkbook, but those who have know you don't write checks when you don't have the funds to cover them, don't give expensive gifts (in the form of tax breaks to your rich friends) you can't afford, and must curb your expensive hobbies (starting wars) when funds are low. Long after Bush leaves office, we Americans and our offspring will be paying the tab for the eight years he spends in office.
He, of course, will spend his remaining years having someone else (we taxpayers) paying his bills for him while he plays golf, parties with his wealthy friends and gives speeches for profit.
On a personal note, I am thrilled that my family's bills are paid for the month, and there is enough left over for a buffet and movie on Thanksgiving Day -- and I didn't have to borrow a dime from future generations to finance it.
This financially retarded president should take advice from Americans of modest means instead of his highly paid "advisers." He and those advisers are bankrupting this country.
