Flashpoint for Nov. 5, 2005

Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005 | 7:57 a.m.

Las Vegas may have left millions on the table with developer Billy Walters over that controversial deed restriction. But rest assured, the city's fiscal watchdogs are going after the big money. Turns out that the city recently turned over unpaid cell phone bills for collection after months of not receiving payment. The hundreds of dollars in bills belong to ex-city employee Wendell Williams, a former assemblyman who you may recall got into trouble in the double-dipping scandal. Williams now is the focal point of an ethics complaint against ex-Councilwoman Lynette Boggs McDonald about whether she asked him to help save her husband's job. Hope her number isn't on any of those cell phone bills.
