10 alternatives for Las Vegas Valley’s jail overcrowding:

10. Plenty of reasonably priced off-Strip hotel rooms available during slow period over the holidays

9. For the $72 a day the feds are paying to house prisoners in Las Vegas' jail, I'll stick a few in my garage

8. Inmates could fill empty seats at late lounge acts -- if you can get by that little "cruel and unusual punishment" problem

7. Put 'em in a cab on the Strip -- don't worry, they're not going anywhere

6. Second-story men would feel right at home at Circus Circus, which is always looking for people comfortable working high above ground

5. Have prisoners line up for the buffet at any Strip hotel -- by the time they reach the food, their sentence will be up

4. Apartment owners would jump at the chance for long, long, long-term rentals

3. Building new prison now at Yucca could solve that other problem

2. Probably could squeeze a few prisoners -- say, about 20,000 -- into the stands at most UNLV football games

1. Have David Copperfield make excess inmates disappear.
