Airport passenger count falls

After 20 straight months of monthly increases, the passenger count at Reno-Tahoe International Airport declined in April, airport officials said.

A total of 36,105 fewer passengers passed through the airport in April compared with the same month a year ago.

Officials blamed the 8.5 percent decrease on the absence of the American Bowling Congress tournament in Reno and the fact that spring break took place in March instead of April.

"For almost two years, we have been bringing an increasing number of passengers to the community each month and we will continue to work hard to bring travelers to America's Adventure Place," said Krys Bart, the airport's executive director.
