Letter: U.S. military fighting for noble cause
Friday, May 27, 2005 | 6:13 a.m.
WEEKEND EDITION
May 28 - 30, 2005
I want the members of our armed forces to know that the sacrifices they make and the hardships they endure for our nation's sake are deeply appreciated. I want them to know that their fellow countrymen are in awe of their devotion and in awe of all they are accomplishing in the cause of liberty.
I know that our nation has many problems and that our citizens have many differences with each other. But no other nation has struggled harder to be just and generous with its resources for the benefit of all humanity than our America has. And no other nation has been so richly blessed as we have been with patriots so true and good and courageous as all of our service members.
They are our strength and inspiration -- the very best of us. We are so proud of everything they and all of our past veterans are doing and have done in defen
se of America and our precious freedoms.
A more noble cause and calling does not exist. Thanks to all of you and may God bless you.
