Four to be arraigned in alleged hit

Friday, May 27, 2005 | 11:02 a.m.

The son and daughter of the owner of the Palomino topless club and the two men they allegedly paid $6,000 to kill a former employee of the club who had allegedly been badmouthing the business are scheduled for arraignment in Boulder City Justice Court on Tuesday.

Anabel Espindola, 33 and her brother Luis Hidalgo III, 24 are accused of hiring Deangelo Carroll, 24, an employee of the Palomino in North Las Vegas and Kenneth Counts, 29, to shoot Timothy J. Hadland on May 19.

All four individuals are charged with murder with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation to commit murder in connection to Hadland's killing.

Deputy District Attorney Giancarlo Pesci said this morning all four individuals could face the death penalty, but said a formal decision wouldn't be made until the district attorney's office's death penalty review committee reviewed the case.

Pesci said he believed the required aggravators for seeking the death penalty are present.

All four are currently in custody on no bail. The defense attorneys representing them are expected to file motions requesting bail by 5 p.m. today and the issue should be addressed on Tuesday in Boulder City.

Hildago is being represented by Robert Draskovich, Epsinolda by Chris Oram, Counts by Chief Deputy Public Defender Curtis Brown and Carroll is represented by Kristina Wildeveld.
