Veterans to receive special recognition
For Memorial Day, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War and the 60th snniversary of the end of World War II, the Gobel Lowden Veterans Center and Museum, 3333 Chamber St., is honoring all Nevadans who served in the armed forces.
Featured will be a special tribute to Vietnam veterans, plus a Wall of Heroes presentation memorializing veterans who sacrificed their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom and all other wars. There will be entertainment and refreshments.

Golf tournament will benefit Make-A-Wish
KB Home will host its third annual charity golf classic June 9 at the Pauite Golf Resort to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada.
This is the first year the tournament has been open to the public.
Last year KB Home and their contractors raised more than $30,000 for Make-A Wish. This year the goal is $50,000.

Greens fees are $1,200 per team of four or $400 per person. Participants will also be treated to a continental breakfast, awards luncheon and the opportunity to win various raffle prizes.
Mormon Fort sets 150th anniversary party
The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Park is celebrating 150 years in Las Vegas and the completion of the new visitors Center and Museum at 500 E. Washington Ave.
The public is invited to participate in the celebration June 11 at 9 a.m. Bring your family and friends and for a full day of activities, food and celebration. Entrance to the park will be free.

The next film in the
North Las Vegas Parks & Recreation Department's fourth annual Movie Madness Series is "Charlotte's Web" June 3 at Goynes Park. The community is encouraged to pack a picnic basket and come out to watch a movie on the 16-foot by 20-foot movie screen. All movies begin at dusk and are free.
