Early voting begins for LV Ward 6

The Las Vegas Ward 6 City Council race has drawn a trickle of early voters so far, but the polls should see a boost once satellite early voting locations open in the coming days, City Clerk Roni Ronemus said.
By Tuesday night, 44 voters had cast ballots in the race between Steve Ross and Mary Gillins. Ward 6 incumbent Michael Mack is not seeking re-election.
The Las Vegas city clerk's office, at 400 Stewart Ave., opened for early voting Saturday, and will remain open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through June 3, except on Sundays and Memorial Day,
On Thursday and Friday, voters will also be able to cast their ballots at Albertson's at Farm Road and El Capitan Way from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Vons at Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard will be open for early voting on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Albertson's at Ann Road and Drexel Road will offer early voting Tuesday and Wednesday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Then on June 2 and June 3, early voting booths will be at the Smith's at Rancho Drive and Craig Road from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Ronemus said the light voter turnout at Las Vegas City Hall is probably not indicative of what turnout will be in the race; City Hall is far from Ward 6, which covers the northern part of the city.
The satellite voting locations are in Ward 6.
There are 52,555 registered voters in Ward 6. Ronemus said her office has issued 1,266 mail ballots for this election.
Election Day, when voters can only vote at their designated polling places, is June 7.
