John R. Barker

John R. Barker, 71, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Los Angeles. A resident for two years, he was a retired machine technician, a Korean War Air Force and Marine Corps veteran and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; one son, Alan Barker of Rohnert Park, Calif.; one daughter, Lori Barker of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

William 'Tom' Barrett

William "Tom" Barrett, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Signal Hill, Texas. A resident for 45 years, he was a retired truck driver and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Ron Barrett of Las Vegas; one sister, Betty Fountain of Reno; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

George H. Boomer Jr.

George H. Boomer Jr., 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born April 19, 1939, in Spokane, Wash. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired customer service representative at Palm Mortuary and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; one niece, Anne Collier of Los Angeles; one daughter, Cherie McNett; and two sons, Michael McNett and Mark McNett.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Teddie R. Brown Jr.

Teddie R. Brown Jr., 66, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Tulsa, Okla. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired musician and a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Ross; four daughters, Desiree Behard of the United Kingdom, Valerie Jones of Los Angeles, Tracee Carter of Riverside, Calif., and Tiffany Brown of Hollywood, Calif.; three sons, Drake Alabanza of San Francisco, Rene Alabanza of Maui, Hawaii, and Mark Adair of Hollywood; and several grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Charlotte Day

Charlotte Day, 52, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Sept. 12, 1952, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident for eight years, she was a retail clerk at a gift shop.

She is survived by her husband, James; her mother, Emma J. Gonzales, and two brothers, Nick Gonzales and Cid Gonzales, all of Pueblo; and one sister, Linda Walker of Longview, Wash.

Michael Henry Dwyer

Michael Henry Dwyer, 89, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1915, in County Leitrim, Ireland. A resident for 56 years, he was a retired cell operator for a chemical company.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila; one son, Rory Dwyer of Henderson; one daughter, Sheila Shain of Coto de Caza, Calif.; one sister, Madge Wrynn of Ireland; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 9 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Jack L. Evans

Jack L. Evans, 87, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 29, 1917, in LaMesa, Calif. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired owner and manager of a sporting goods company and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Jan Massey of Las Vegas and Sue Murphy of Bellingham, Wash.; three sons, Greg Evans of Las Vegas, Dennis Putnam of Glendale, Calif., and Jack Evans Jr. of Anaheim, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Drake of Corona, Calif., and Donald Drake of Lakeport, Calif.; one sister, Dolores Nagel of Lakeport; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Amanda Gillis

Amanda Gillis, 33, of Las Vegas died Friday. She was born July 17, 1971, in Leominster, Mass. A resident for 32 years, she was a Chaparral High School and UNLV graduate, a model for Farrington Productions, played Cleopatra at Caesars Palace, was vice president of Cadeau Express, worked in public relations for Julio Iglesias and was assistant manager of Neyla at the MGM Grand.

She is survived by her parents, Frederick and Nancy Gillis of Las Vegas; one brother, Matthew of San Clemente, Calif.; and her grandmother, Lillian Goodheart of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

William Thomas Henry, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A retired Navy boatswain's mate, he was born in June 1924.

He is survived by his wife, Fidelina; one son, William Henry Jr.; two daughters, MaryAnn Mell and Marisol Perez; eight brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 8:30 a.m. until a 3 p.m. service Wednesday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

DonaJeane Keeler

DonaJeane Keeler, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Topeka, Kan. A resident for one month, she was a retired medical transcriptionist.

She is survived by one son, Markley Steven Hug of Las Vegas; one sister, Rita R. Neal of Hobbs, N.M.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. A memorial service date in Phoenix is pending. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Linus John Klapperick

Linus John Klapperick, 70, of Las Vegas died Friday. He was born Sept. 9, 1934, in Staceyville, Iowa. A resident for 42 years, he was retired Las Vegas municipal employee and was a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Celesta "Sally"; two daughters, Kimberly Schneider and Brenda Allen, and one son, Robert Linus, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Herb Loecher and Elmer Klapperick, both of Minnesota; three sisters, Marcey Corkill and Darlene Klapperick, both of California, and Mary Delores Cook of Minnesota; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation is 2-7 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way.

Marion 'Mike' 'Pug' Parke

Marion "Mike" "Pug" Parke, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday. He was born July 8, 1923, in Kimball, Alberta. He retired as a structural steel erector after 62 years, was a member of Ironworkers Local 86 and was a World War II Navy veteran who served on the USS Orion in the South Pacific.

He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Harris.

He is survived by two sons, Michael W. Parke of Federal Way, Wash., and Jerry C. Parke of Las Vegas; four stepchildren, Sylvia and Roland Courquin and Mike and Chris Lewis, all of Seattle; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Thursday in the LDS chapel, 3300 N. Buffalo Drive. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Walter J. Pyzik

Walter J. Pyzik, 88, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 10, 1917, in Chicago. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired Army sergeant major and a World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel.

He is survived by one daughter, Rosemary Brisbois of Las Vegas; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Richard E. Thurmond

Richard E. Thurmond, 72, of Henderson, died Friday in Idaho. He was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Salt Lake City. He moved to Las Vegas in 1953, was an entrepreneur who opened up the Rainbow Club in Henderson.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Marie; two sons, Les Elmo Thurmond of Victor, Idaho, and Gary Lynn Thurmond of Henderson; three daughters, Debbie Dixon of Portland, Ore., Traci Landig of Henderson and Mandy Farmer of Salt Lake City; one sister, Theo Thurmond Italasano of Bountiful, Utah; and five grandchildren.

John C. 'Hansi' Tillmann

John C. "Hansi" Tillmann, 87, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Ilagan Isabela, Philippines. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired chef and a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines.

He is survived by one daughter, Maria Victoria T. Javellana of Manila, Philippines; one son, Johnny Tillmann of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
