Henderson teenager killed; another stabbed
Monday, May 23, 2005 | 10:51 a.m.
Ricardo Martin Macias, a 17-year-old Henderson boy, was shot to death and a 19-year-old man was stabbed early Sunday morning in what may be related violence, police said.
Henderson Police were called to a cul-de-sac along McKenzie Drive at Duppel Court shortly after midnight after neighbors heard several gunshots. Patrol officers arrived in time to see a car full of teens leaving the area, police said.
The officer stopped a green SUV and found the teens were attempting to drive their friend to the hospital after he'd been shot several times. The teen was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals-Rose DeLima campus near Boulder Highway, then to University Medical Center, where he died shortly after 3 a.m., authorities said.
Police said the 19-year-old, Mariano Madrid, was stabbed in the arm at about the same time as the shooting. Police are investigating whether the stabbing and shooting are related. No arrests had been reported as of this morning.
Macias and Madrid were among 40 people at a rowdy party at the home, Officer Todd Rasmussen, a Henderson Police spokesman, said. The victims were found after officers reponded to several calls from neighbors, he said.
Detectives this morning were investigating what caused the altercation, he said.
Neighbors said three teenage girls live at the home, and apparently their parents were away in Chicago during the weekend.
Lee Filipsky, 81, lives next door to the home where the shooting erupted. His camper trailer, parked in his driveway in front of his home, was hit by two bullets,
He said that this was the first time his neighborhood had seen this kind of problem at the home.
