Winslow faces charges for motorcycle crash

Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. will be charged with disregarding safety in the motorcycle crash that put his 2005 season in jeopardy and Westlake, Ohio, police planned to issue the citation today.

The charge carries a maximum fine of $150 with no jail time.

Winslow tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee when he crashed, two sources told the Associated Press. An injury such as Winslow's typically requires 10 to 12 months of rehabilitation.

Winslow also sustained unspecified internal injuries when his motorcycle hit a curb at 35 mph and he flipped over the handlebars while practicing in a parking lot near his home May 1.

UNLV holds first place

Rebels senior Matt Fry started his last homestand in a big way, drilling two home runs, including a game-winning two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth as UNLV beat Utah 10-4 at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

The win kept UNLV (28-26, 21-7 MWC) a half-game ahead of BYU, which beat San Diego State 4-3.

With the score 4-4 and Ryan Bird on first base, Fry laced a 2-2 pitch from Utah starter Josh Cooper over the right-field fence to give UNLV a 6-4 lead.

The Rebels added to the lead in the bottom of the ninth, scoring a run on a sacrifice fly by Fry and then three more on a bases-loaded double by Mike Cruz to push the lead to 10-4. Fry finished with a career-high five RBIs.

Carrillo's streak was tied for the fourth-longest in Division I history, falling two shy of the mark shared by BYU's Scott Nielsen and Wake Forest's Kyle Sleeth.

The Wright-Trinidad fight will be replayed Saturday on HBO (6:45 p.m. PDT) before the live telecast of the heavyweight fight between Lamon Brewster and Andrew Golota from Chicago.
