Road closures in Summerlin, Henderson set
Friday, May 20, 2005 | 9:26 a.m.
Road work in Henderson and along Summerlin Parkway will close roads and divert traffic next week.
From Monday morning through Thursday a section of Arroyo Grande Boulevard just south of Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson will be closed while a $26,500 storm drain is installed.
Traffic will be rerouted to Stephanie Street or Amador Lane for access to Arroyo Grande Boulevard south of Horizon Ridge Parkway. The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day during the work. Message boards are in place to alert motorists to detours, the city said.
East and west travel on Horizon Ridge Parkway will be open for through travel.
The installation of reinforced concrete storm drain is part of the local upgrades that began in November 2004 along Horizon Ridge from Seven Hills Drive to Gibson Road.
Partial closures of Summerlin Parkway between Rampart Boulevard and Buffalo Drive are scheduled on Tuesday and on Thursday during overnight hours, the Clark County Public Works Department said. The temporary closures are necessary as crews pour concrete for a new bridge over Summerlin Parkway at Durango Drive, part of a $14.3 million Durango improvement project.
Summerlin Parkway will be completely closed to westbound traffic between Durango and Rampart at 9 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday. All westbound traffic on Summerlin will be detoured north on Durango Drive, west on Vegas Drive, then south on Rampart and back to Summerlin Parkway. Eastbound traffic on Summerlin will not be affected.
Summerlin Parkway eastbound will be completely closed from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday between Rampart and Buffalo. All eastbound traffic on Summerlin will be detoured at the Rampart Boulevard exit. Motorists can then travel south to Alta Drive or north to Vegas Drive to continue east and return to Summerlin Parkway at Buffalo. Westbound traffic on Summerlin will be normal on Thursday.
Median islands, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, street lights, storm drains and a trail underpass structure will be installed. Auxiliary lanes for westbound and eastbound traffic on Summerlin between Buffalo and the new Durango Drive will also be installed. Traffic signals will be installed on Durango at Westcliff Drive, Washington Avenue, Vegas Drive and the new Summerlin Parkway ramps.
