Letter: Minority rights must be saved

OK, I will admit to being more than a bit confused. Why is it that our right-wing administration wants to deny minority rights in our government, while demanding that Iraq's new government protect the minority rights of the Sunnis? Does Iraq deserve a better government than the USA?

The Senate has had a policy of protecting minority rights for more than 200 years, and now it's an intolerable condition because of a handful of judge nominees.

Also, as a proponent of fair play, I don't understand why the Democrats didn't match the 60-plus nominees the Republicans blocked during the Clinton administration.
