Creation of Wyoming gaming commission is urged

Wednesday, May 18, 2005 | 9:07 a.m.

LANDER, Wyo. -- Wyoming needs a gaming commission to provide consistent regulation of gambling, rather than the somewhat fractured system in place now, the state attorney general and others told an interim legislative committee.

Attorney General Pat Crank told the Legislature's Joint Travel, Recreation and Wildlife Interim Committee on Monday that it's currently up to individual counties to decide how and when to prosecute infractions of the state's gambling laws.

Problems arise because different county and district attorneys interpret state gambling laws differently, Crank said.
