Comedy showcase benefit scheduled
The Foundation for Positively Kids and Sherri Fuller from Xtravaganza Entertainment is hosting "Positively Comedy," a comedy showcase at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Silverton, to raise money to build a pediatric nursing facility in Southern Nevada for medically fragile children.
Headliners at the event will include George Wallace, The Sandbox Association, Big John the Barbeque Man and Side 2 Side.
Currently, Southern Nevada does not have a pediatric skilled nursing center which means medically dependent children oftentimes end up in an adult nursing facility or staying in the hospital longer than they need to.
The Foundation for Positively Kids is a local Las Vegas-based nonprofit organization that is dedicated to developing services that provide comprehensive care for Nevada's fragile and terminally ill children.
Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased at the Silverton.
The Catholic Diocese of Las Vegas
will hold a groundbreaking ceremony 1 p.m. Thursday at Hualapai and and Russell roads to mark the beginning of construction on the 35-acre campus for Bishop Gorman High School.
