Pigs party with cake left over from Vegas centennial bash

The day after thousands pigged out on Las Vegas' 130,000-pound birthday cake, it went to a bunch of hogs.
Tons of leftover centennial cake were hauled to RC Farms on Monday, where it will be devoured by 3,500 four-legged pigs over the next week.
The seven-layer yellow cake with white frosting, said to be the world's largest, although official confirmation is still to come, was on display and then eaten Sunday at Cashman Center as part of the city's centennial celebration
Thousands took their piece of cake and came back for seconds, and many packed some for home -- and then homeless service organizations were given a chance to grab some. But there was still between half and three-quarters of the massive cake remaining Monday morning, centennial spokeswoman Lori Nelson said.
Nelson said with all that cake left over, "we went to plan B," which was to have the remaining cake hauled to the pig farm in North Las Vegas.
RC Farms owner Robert Combs, who typically feeds his pigs leftovers from hotel buffets, jumped at the offer.
"They'll eat anything," Combs said. "And with the world's largest cake, I just couldn't pass that up."
Combs said it will take about a week for the pigs to polish off the cake. RC Farms has about 3,500 pigs and 300 cows.
The 30,240 half-sheets that made up the centennial cake were baked in Tarboro, N.C., and trucked to Las Vegas where volunteers assembled and frosted the cake.
Baked and donated by Sara Lee, the cake was 102 feet long and 52 feet wide, and was expected to break the world record for largest cake, which is currently held by a 128,750-pound cake that was made in Ft. Wayne, Ala., according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Guinness officials within the next 12 weeks are expected to make a ruling on whether the Las Vegas cake was the largest ever, Nelson said.
