Seminar set for firefighter hopefuls

An information seminar is scheduled from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday at Community College of Southern Nevada, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd., for those interested in being firefighters in Las Vegas or North Las Vegas.

Seminars have been scheduled throughout the year to help prepare those who are interested in the recruitment and selection process for the position of firefighter trainee.

The sessions are informational only, and applications will not be available. Applications will be available beginning Oct. 17, through Nov. 17, on the Las Vegas and North Las Vegas Websites.

Boulder City plans dog walk

You and your dog are invited to the Celebrity Dog Walk from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Park in Boulder City.

There will be canine demonstrations, entertainment, exhibits and more.

For a $10 donation, each dog and owner will receive a bandana for the dog to wear, a unique collectible water bottle for the people and a goodie bag filled with gifts, coupons and samples. The Celebrity Dog Walk is a fundraiser for the Boulder City Dog Center. Call 293-6285.

Emergency workers will be honored

In recognition of National Emergency Medical Services Week, the Clark County Health District will honor emergency medical service personnel from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Health District, 625 Shadow Lane.

Nominations were submitted from each of the nine licensed Emergency Medical Services agencies in Clark County. Nominees must be currently certified as an: Emergency Medical Technician -- Basic; EMT -- Intermediate; EMT -- Paramedic; EMT -- Registered Nurse; or Emergency Medical Dispatcher.

National Missing Children's Day

A child safety day informational fair will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at Circus Circus' Adventuredome theme park, to honor National Missing Children's Day, May 25, which was designated by President Reagan in 1979.

The event will offer information for parents, children and caregivers, "Child ID" kits from Nevada Child Seekers for parents to provide to authorities and the media in the unlikely event that a child is missing. Nevada Child Seekers will take a photo of your child, obtain fingerprints, assist you with filling out an identification data sheet, and the entire kit is yours to keep in a safe place at home or when you travel.
