Wind advisory in effect until 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Southern Nevada until 9 p.m. today with winds expected between 20 mph and 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph.

Temperatures are expected to cool as a spring storm pushes southeast from Alaska.

Today's high temperature in Las Vegas was expected to reach 91 degrees, compared to 97 degrees recorded at McCarran International Airport on Sunday.

Tuesday's daytime highs are expected to drop into the 80s, with warmer and calmer weather due to arrive later in the week. Winds should also calm through tonight to 10 mph to 20 mph.

Man charged after hitting police cars

North Las Vegas Police arrested a 19-year-old North Las Vegas man for attempted murder of a police officer after he allegedly rammed three police cruisers Saturday morning.

Police were called to an apartment complex at 1827 W. Gowan Road to investigate a call of a man trying to break into a vehicle. When officers arrived the suspect was driving from the parking lot in the stolen car, Officer Sean Walker, police spokesman, said.

A short chase ensued and the suspect, Anthony Earl Davis, allegedly drove into three police cars, resulting in minor injuries to three officers, Walker said.

Davis stopped in the 4000 block of Losee Road and ran from the car toward Interstate 15. Metro's police helicopter assisted in the search for Davis, and he was found hiding in a nearby yard, Walker said.

Driver killed after truck hits post

A man was killed early Sunday morning when the Ford F-150 pickup truck he was driving left the roadway while traveling on Silverado Ranch Boulevard and hit a large sign post, Metro Police said.

The driver, Hector D. Perez Jr., 22, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:25 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Motocyclist killed after striking truck

The driver of a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Washington Avenue at 21st Street died after striking the back of a 1994 GMC pickup truck that failed to stop at a posted stop sign and pulled into the intersection at 11:22 p.m. Friday, police said.

The victim was identified as Jay Joseph Alejandro, 31, of Las Vegas.

Police arrested the pickup truck driver, 29-year-old Misael Estrella-Cortez, on a felony DUI charge and he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, traffic officers said.

Girl who died at work site identified

A 13-year-girl who died Friday at a construction site in northeast Las Vegas has been identified as Crystal Rivera of Las Vegas, the coroner's office said.

She and her 10-year-old brother Oscar Rivera were hit by a chain link fence that was struck by a construction truck at Sandy Lane and Carey Avenue, police said. The boy was released from the hospital Friday.
