Redbirds slam 51s

Hector Luna and Peter Zoccolillo both hit grand slams as part of two-homer afternoons, powering the Memphis Redbirds to a 15-4 triumph over the visiting Las Vegas 51s on Wednesday before 10,801 at AutoZone Park.
Luna hit a two-run homer in the first inning and a grand slam in the seventh. Zoccolillo connected for a solo blast in the seventh and another slam in the eighth that capped the scoring.
Javier Cardona also homered and Skip Schumaker became the first Redbird to score four runs in a game since Bo Hart last season. The top three hitters in the Memphis lineup -- Schumaker, Luna and Zoccolillo -- combined to go 7-for-12 with 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
Adam Wainwright (4-1) was the beneficiary of the power display, giving up one run on five hits in six innings. He walked one, struck out six and lowered his ERA to 1.90.
Las Vegas starter Harold Eckert (2-2) served up just one of Memphis' five homers among five hits. He gave up four runs in six innings with three walks and three strikeouts.
The 51s actually had the early lead when Antonio Perez led off the game with his second home run of the season. Chin-Feng Chen added a solo shot in a three-run eighth.
