Letter: Bush’s record has earned no respect
Thursday, May 12, 2005 | 9:06 a.m.
It's really amusing to hear the take by the conservative press on Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid's comment that President Bush is a "loser." They state that it is so disrespectful to the high office. Well, here's a little note to all of them -- respect is earned.
Let's look at the president's accomplishments:
We are in a war for profit in Iraq that has no end in sight, either financially or in human terms.
We are despised and distrusted by a vast majority of the world that six years ago respected us.
The oil industry is allowed to rape the American public for billions.
Tens of thousands of needy and elderly Americans each month have the very necessities of life they need for survival taken away from them so that multimillionaires can receive tax breaks.
I think the Nevada senator is not too far off the mark.
