Sex and seniors planned tonight

The organization H20 will present "Sexy Seniors," a lecture from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today in Sunrise Hospital's Auditorium, 3101 S. Maryland Parkway.

UNLV associate professor Jean Henry will present the lecture about the ways that sex can reduce health problems and will give tips on improving the sex life.

Chinatown issues topic of meeting

Clark County Commissioner Lynette Boggs McDonald invites residents, builders and business operators to attend a town hall meeting 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Harbor Palace restaurant, 4275 Spring Mountain Road, to review proposed changes to the Winchester/Paradise land use plan that may impact the Chinatown area.

The issues to be discussed involved land use in the Paradise portion of that area.

Gumbo Fest set at Doolittle Center

The Unity Festival and Gumbo Fest will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Doolittle Community Center, 1940 N. J St.

The festival will offer free children's activities, local performing groups, raffles, a food contest, a slam dunk competition, informational booths, demonstrations of gymnastics, martial arts, crafts, wrestling and more.

Entries are being accepted for the free Gumbo Fest competition, which will be offered from 12:30-2 p.m. There will be a $5 charge to taste all the entries. Other refreshments will be available for sale. Call 229-6993.

Float Like a Duck at Municipal Pool

Float Like a Duck, designed with the intent to educate the public about the importance of water safety, will be held from noon until 4 p.m. Sunday at Las Vegas Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza Road.

The campaign is part of a series of events to promote Pool Safety Month during May. Mayor Oscar Goodman will present the Red Cross, the Department of Leisure Services and Paragon Pools with a proclamation for their efforts to promote pool safety.

Open house planned on Sunrise Manor

Clark County planners invite residents, builders and business operators to attend an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Neighborhood Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.

The open house is the second in a series of public meetings in which county staff will gather public comments on the update of the Sunrise Manor land use plan.

Summer Jam for kids hits UNLV

The Summer Jam Kickoff 2005 will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Track and Field Complex on the UNLV campus.

All children ages 7-17 are invited to attend and participate in the event, which will feature several activities including: soccer, basketball, arts and crafts, football, track and field, dance and hip hop events. Other activities include: flexibility contests, games and inflatable jump houses..

Kids must bring their parents and register with the school by calling 382-5447.

The Sierra Club

will present the program Hiking in Nevada, Arizona, California and Utah during its meeting at 7:30 tonight at Nevada Power Co., 6226 W. Sahara Ave. Refreshments will be included. Call 648-2983 or 873-7117.
