Description of suspect released in fatal home attack

Tuesday, May 10, 2005 | 9:51 a.m.

Henderson Police on Monday released a description of a suspect in the home invasion shooting that left a woman dead and her two children injured last week.

Police said the suspect was seen running May 4 from the Green Valley Ranch home on Camelback Ridge Avenue near Paseo Verde Parkway around 1:30 a.m. He is described as of medium height and build, in his late teens or early 20s, and possibly black or Hispanic. He wore all black clothing and held up his baggy pants as he ran, police said.

The man was seen leaving in a late 1980s red two-door hatchback car, police said.

Jennifer Davis, 46, was killed by the gunman, who had kicked in the door of her family's home and began shooting. Christian Davis, 18, was critically injured in the attack. His 17-year-old sister was not shot but was struck several times by the attacker.

Christian Davis was taken to University Medical Center. Hospital officials have declined to say whether he remains in their care, citing patient confidentiality.

Monte Bay, principal of Coronado High School where Christian Davis is a senior, said the campus community is anxiously awaiting word on his condition.

Students have been asking whether Davis will able to graduate, Bay said. Coronado's commencement ceremonies are set for June 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

"We just hope he gets better and we'll do everything we can to accommodate him," Bay said. "I know it would mean a great deal to his teachers and friends to see him there."

Police have said the attack is not believed to have been random. They released no additional information about any link between the suspect and family.

Anyone with information about the suspect can call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Henderson Police at 267-5000.
